The Global Village Festival of Greater Akron is a celebration of international and ethnic diversity in our community. This event will highlight the dynamics of the cultural diversity in our modern urban environment, and is designed to enable distinctive cultural expressions – including performances, exhibitions, international cuisine, and much more.

Summit County’s international and ethnic diversity is an extremely important community asset that can enrich and enlarge our collective world view. The Global Village Festival is an international culture festival that will help foster a greater awareness and appreciation for the diversity that exists in Summit County. Those who attend will leave the festival with knowledge, contacts, and resources that they can develop and nurture into meaningful connections.

The purpose of this event is to unite people from all cultures - celebrating our commonalities and differences through performing arts, music, dance, song, authentic ethnic foods, visual arts, interactive & educational exhibits and a global marketplace.

The celebration will include:

• Live performances
• Interactive and educational international exhibits
• Vendors of ethnic food and merchandise
• Fair trade vendors and farmers market
• Activities for children and adults
• Cultural dance lessons
• International Children's Parade

Letter from the Global Village Festival Committee

We hope that you can make it again this year where we will present our theme Walking through the looking glass as we continue to discover Summit County’s international and ethnic diversity as an extremely important community asset that can enrich and enlarge our collective world view.

This year we are expanding the Festival’s event offerings with a new global fusion Artist Avenue to complement our Fair Trade Market; and cooking demonstrations to complement our authentic World Café; complete with international wine tasting. Also new this year is our health fair with emphasis on athletics and holistic and alternative health demonstrations. The Children’s Nation has added Table Top Games of the World, interactive language games with prizes, elaborate face painting and a photo booth! We look forward to your return alongside our other most popular Festival experiences: global education, dynamic music and dance groups, the interfaith dialogue and the announcement of the Visual Arts Post Card Contest.

The Festival Committee is working hard at hosting another exciting fun-filled and educational event which we are confident will become the premier event of your weekend! We need your help in making this goal become a reality.
